Profile

Professor Volker Epping studied law and received his doctorate in 1992 from the Faculty of Law at the Ruhr University in Bochum, where he also habilitated in 1996. After holding a university professorship for public law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, he has held the university professorship for public law, international and European law at the Faculty of Law of Leibniz University in Hanover since December 2001. From 2004 to 2007 and 2008 to 2009 he was Dean of the Faculty of Law, and from 2009 to 2011 he was a member of the Senate of Leibniz Universität Hannover and the Senate of the Lower Saxony Technical University (NTH). He has been President of Leibniz Universität Hannover since 2015.
