On the 9th and 10th of March 2020 the workshop "Provenance Research and Contested Heritage of Colonial Contexts" was held in Nkongsamba at the Institut des Beaux-Arts (IBA) of the University of Douala. The event was organised by Rachel Mariembe (lecturer of museology at the IBA) and the two PAESE staff members Isabella Bozsa of the Städtische Museum Braunschweig and Bianca Baumann of the Landesmuseum Hannover....

On March 7th, 2020, a workshop with H.M. Ness Essombey Ndambwe, (King of the Chefferie Sodiko), Bianca Baumann (Landesmuseum Hannover), Isabella Bozsa (Städtisches Museum Braunschweig), Paul Tchonang (Musée de Bangoua) and other participants, such as artists and representatives of the press, took place at Chefferie Sodiko, a kingdom in the Bonabéri district of Douala...

In the context of the joint project PAESE, provenance research is currently being conducted on the ethnographic Namibia collection of the RPM. This, in combination with the 175th anniversary of the “Hildesheim Museum Society of 1844”, is a perfect occasion to present a small exhibition of late 19th-century traditional ladies’ fashion from Namibia at the RPM. The fashion treasures were worn by women of the Herero in what was then “German Southwest Africa”...

On 28 January 1900, an exhibition opened at the Roemer-Museum Hildesheim featuring ethnographic objects collected by a certain Hermann Großkopf. Working as a marine engineer on the imperial mail steamer “Stettin”, which was operated by the shipping company Norddeutscher Lloyd, Großkopf had travelled the Pacific Ocean from Singapore to New Guinea. Along the way he had collected ethnographic souvenirs that filled many crates....

The Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum (RPM) Hildesheim presents the new virtual exhibition “Heavyweight Fashion – Traditional Clothing and Adornment of the Herero Women”, which went online on 13 April 2022.  Sabine Lang, provenance researcher at the RPM, wrote the script. Jenny Hoyer, student of Visual Communication at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, made the script into a documentary-style virtual exhibition.

On 17 May 2019 Prof. Dr. Brigitte Reinwald invited to the first research colloquium of the PAESE joint project at the Leibniz University of Hannover...

As part of the 2019 visits, the PAESE joint project organised two workshops to link the work in the different collections...
