On Friday, 13.09.2019 the PAESE joint project in cooperation with the NDR series "Museumsdetektive" has invited to the panel discussion "Museumsdetektive – Auf den Spuren des kolonialen Erbes im Norden" (Museum Detectives - On the tracks of the colonial heritage in the North) at the Landesmuseum Hannover.
After a welcome by the director of the Landesmuseum, Katja Lembke, and an introduction by Christine Gerberding and Ocke Bandixen from NDR, two panel discussions were held on different perspectives on objects from colonial contexts in German museums. Christiana von Saß moderated both discussion rounds, each of which was introduced by a short film (film contributions "Kolonialraubkunst in norddeutschen Museen" and "Wie gehen wir mit dem kolonialen Erbe um?")
In the first discussion round, Larissa Förster (head of the department for collection goods from colonial contexts at the Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste), Albert Gouaffo (Caméroun-Université de Dschang, Cameroon) and Christine Gerberding (head of the editorial staff of NDR Kulturjournal) dealt with general aspects of provenance research.
In the second panel discussion, Flower Manase (curator, National Museum of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam), Nzila Marina Mubusisi (curator, National Museum of Namibia, Windhoek), Michael Kraus (curator, Ethnological Collection Georg-August-Universität Göttingen), Claudia Andratschke (coordinator, Netzwerk Provenienzforschung in Niedersachsen and provenance researcher, Landesmuseum Hannover) and Christine Gerberding (head of the editorial staff of NDR Kulturjournal) on selected objects of the collections researched within the framework of PAESE and the future handling of these and the research results.
The contributions were simultaneously translated by Bernd Leinenbach (Redewert).
