Rebekka Habermas was Professor of Modern History at the Georg August University of Göttingen, has held visiting professorships in Paris, Montreal, Oxford and New York and was a member of the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat). Her research interests included gender, religious and colonial history. She was researching the Medical Demographic Expedition 1913/14 to the "German South Seas", in which Emil Nolde participated, among others.

Rebekka Habermas passed away on December 21, 2023. It is with great sadness and gratitude that we look back on the years of working together.
