Peter Joch

Peter Joch studied Art History and German Studies in Aachen, Berlin, Rome and Florence on a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.

1990 Magister Artium at the RWTH Aachen.

1990 - 1991: Research assistant at the Chair of Medieval Studies at RWTH Aachen University

1991 - 1994: worked in the private sector (in several advertising agencies, including THOUET and Power & Radach, Aachen, most recently head of copywriting / conception in the "New Business" division)

1994 - 1995: Art historical author on behalf of the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations

1996 - 1997: Curator / art historical author on behalf of the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst Aachen and the Peter and Irene Ludwig Foundation

1998: Doctorate on artistic self-reference in the work of Nicolas Poussin at the RWTH Aachen

1999: Art historical author commissioned by the management of the Venice Biennale and the director of the Visual Arts section

2000: Art historical and organizational supervisor of sculpture projects and an artists' union in Harare, Zimbabwe (in cooperation with German galleries); curator on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf, Kunstraum Düsseldorf

2003 - 2007: Teaching assignments in art history at the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg and at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen; 2005 - 2010: Curator / organizer on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art: exhibition programme within the framework of the Hessian regional partnerships

2001 - 2013: Director of the Kunsthalle Darmstadt

2013 - 2015: Founding director of the Museum Barberini, Potsdam, supported by the Hasso Plattner Foundation, for the construction and initial phase

2015 - 2017: Project manager for the development of the baroque ensemble Jagdschloss Hubertusburg into a museum center on behalf of the Free State of Saxony, Saxon Ministry of Finance

Since 2017: Director of the Municipal Museum Braunschweig
