Die Herkunftsbezeichnung "Adamaua" bezieht sich auf das Gebiet der Residentur "Adamaua" zur deutschen Kolonialzeit. Strümpell war von 1906-1910 als Resident des damaligen Verwaltungsdistrikts "Adamaua" in der deutschen Kolonie Kamerun eingesetzt.
